Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015)

Under CDM2015 all parties within a project have a role and responsibilities relating to Health and Safety.

These are well defined on the HSE website.

McGregor McMahon's role as designers requires us to prepare or modify designs so as to mitigate against foreseeable risks that may arise during the construction and operation of a building.

We provide this information to the Principal Designer who co-ordinates and disseminates this to other members of the project team to help them fulfil their duties.

Regardless of the size of the project, as part of our design process, we undertake a Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Method Statement (HIRAMS) process.

Essentially we:

  • Look at our design
  • Identify potential hazards during construction, operation and decommisioning that arise from our design
  • Risk assess them (in terms of likelihood and severity)
  • Where necessary redesign to eliminate or reduce the risk

If this cannot be achieved, we inform and/or control through the introduction of Designers Method Statements on our drawings
